“To Live in the Borderlands” by Gloria Anzaldua

On 28 March 2022, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley unveiled the Gloria Anzaldua literary landmark just outside the university library’s doors. It is nestled underneath a tree, and open for the public to see even if the library is closed.

I read Anzaldua’s work as a young man, and that person isn’t who I am anymore. (Or at least, I’m trying not to be.) I made an effort to dust off my copy of Borderlands/La Frontera to reread it with a new set (albeit older) of eyes. However, my copy is lost among read and unread books that clutter my house.

I’m especially curious about taking another gander of the text because of the waves it made during one of the panels. That, however, is a topic for a later discussion. If I ever find the book.
