From "A Trick to Remember the Strings"
for Lubna Alyaan
by Anthony Alessandrini
On a quiet day in Gaza,
a determined young girl:
I love the violin
passionately, and I want
to become
one of the world's
top violinists. That's
my dream.
There was a lot of things I wanted to focus on with this year’s posts. As I write this the “not a war” war in Iran underway. Anti-trans legislature is being passed at the state-level in many conservative-run governments. The SAVE Act was passed in the House, something that will irrevocably destroy the democracy and freedoms in this country.
Still, with all the chaos happening around, I haven’t forgotten about the genocide carried out by the Israeli government on Palestinian people.
You can find “A Trick to Remember the Strings” and two other poems by Alessandrini on his post “Three Poems for Gaza” on Jadaliyya.
