Gatos
Cats are my favorite part of my walks. I love how they stare at me, curious faces pondering what I am doing stalking about and pointing my camera at them.
I caught this little ginger cat eating something in an alley I had planned to cut through on my way home from a walk. I stood in the alley across from his and snapped a photo. I had interrupted dinner. That was clear to me as its little angry face looked at me with annoyance mixed in with its natural indifference.
Third Slide
One of my biggest fears is someone approaching me while I’m snapping photos. This is why I rarely photograph people.
As I was walking back home, I saw a cat hunkered down by some tall grass. I called out to it as one does, “Pss pss pss!” It looked at me as I took a photo and then got another and another. The whole time, however, I wasn’t aware that another set of eyes were upon me.
As I cut through the alley, I heard an elderly lady call out to me. “¿De qué estás tomando fotos?”
“Los gatos,” I replied.
“¿Por qué?”
“Porque me gustan los gatos.”

I always try my best to not appear as a threat. That I only want to snap a photo of them and let them go on with their day. When I encounter one in the alley or on the street, I pause. Stand still. I’ll take the picture and allow them to rush off into the grass.

Como La Flor
Flowers are another favorite of mine. Whether they be the wild sunflowers (are they wild sunflowers, or do they just look like sunflowers?) or a perfectly curated garden. I especially love it when they have bees or other bugs lingering about.

Sometimes you just have to look to the sky and appreciate its vastness.
Eighth slide
Urban
It’s not quite the urban decay aesthetic that people go for, but there is beauty in the old and faded. There aren’t many shoe repair shops left in the area.
My uncle ran one. It belonged to my grandfather. One time, we took a shoe to see if he could mend it. He told us that they design shoes to look like they’re put together to look like they can be repaired through, but the threads are decoration. The shoe is held together by glue.
Zines
I fell in love with the digital zine. I put together the layout on Canva and share them on my Instagram. The carousel there makes it work. I need to play with WordPress a little more to see if I can get that down better here.
